A Study on the Industrial Health Nurses¢¥ Occupational Attitude


Abstract
This study was attempted to find out the employment condition and occupational attitude of industrial health nurses.
The subjects for this study were 32 nurses working at industry located in Kyungpook and Taegu area.
The data were collected through questionnaire during the period of October 13-31, 1986 and analyzed by the method of frequency and percentage.
The major findings are as follows:
1. For the age, 50.0% of the subjects was from 20 to 24 years, 93.7% of the subjects graduated diploma course and 96.7% was unmarried.
2. In duty shift, 93.0% of the subjects was working in one shift system and an half was working i hours per day In mean monthly salary, 43.8% of the subjects was received from 200,000 to 290,000 won and 68.8% was belong to general business section and person-nel section. 37.5% of the subjects was supervised by health manager and 31.3% was direct controlled by personnel section chief.
3. For the motives which made them become industrial health nurse, "good employ-ment condition" was 65.6%. According to general characteristics, there were no differences of motives in area of age, total carrier and mean monthly salary. But under 4 years industrial health nurse carrier group showed the highest frequency about "good employment condi-tion" (77.8%, 81.3%) and over 5 years group showed the highest frequency about "by chance" (71.4%).
In the interest about the industrial health, "Moderate" was most frequent (62.5%)
and low group in age and carrier, and high group in salary were higher tendency in the in-terest.
In the in service education 84.4% of the subjects was received education.
For the health problem in industrial field, "working environment" was most (43.8%) and according to numbers of worker, working environment was most frequent (66.7) in industrial field with workers below one thousand but in workers over one r thous-and, working environment, health education & environment hygiene were all alike percent-age.
For the job satisfaction, "moderate" was most frequent (59.4%). According to general characteristics, low group in age and total carrier, and from 1 to 4 years a group in industrial nurse carrier showed higher job satisfaction tendency. But over 300,000 won group (44.4%) in mean monthly salary was higher job satisfaction than from 200,000 to 290,000 won group (21.4%).
There were no differences in job satisfaction according to motives but "interest" group (45.5%) showed higher job satisfaction than "moderate" group (25.0%) in interest about the industrial health.
